BMC production process
WHAT IS BMC
BMC (Bulk Molding Compound) is a thermosetting plastic consisting of a long fiber reinforced material, an inorganic filler, a resin matrix, and a special additive. It has good mechanical properties, electrical insulation properties, corrosion resistance and thermal stability, and is widely used in electrical appliances, automobiles, machinery and other fields.
BMC PRODUCTION PROCESS
Four step: raw material preparation, mixing, preparation of molding materials, molding and curing.
First of all, the raw materials are prepared. Glass fibers, inorganic fillers, and resin matrices are prepared in proportions. Glass fibers provide strength and stiffness, inorganic fillers improve thermal stability and corrosion resistance, and the resin matrix serves as the binder for the entire process.
Second, mixing. The prepared fiberglass, inorganic filler, and resin matrix are placed in a mixer for mixing and stirring to make a homogeneous BMC slurry.
Third, the molding material is prepared. The mixed BMC slurry is sprayed or roller-coated on a metal mold with a mold to form a molded material. During the coating process, pigments can also be added as needed to make the molding material have a rich color.
Finally, molding and curing. The prepared molded material is put into the press for molding. The pressure and temperature can be adjusted according to the product requirements. A certain pressure is applied in the press to fully fill the molded material into every detail of the mold and cured at a certain temperature. During the curing process, the resin matrix undergoes a chemical cross-linking reaction, resulting in a hardened material that forms a strong bond with the fiber-reinforced material.
Through the above process, BMC materials can be prepared into products with various complex shapes, such as electrical housings, auto parts, mechanical parts, etc. BMC products have excellent properties, such as high strength, low shrinkage, good dimensional stability, arc breakdown resistance, good flame retardant performance, etc. In addition, BMC can also be processed through a variety of processes, such as injection molding, extrusion molding, compression molding, etc., to meet the needs of different fields.
In short, the production process of BMC is simple and easy, and the prepared products have stable and reliable performance, which are widely used in various fields. With the continuous development of the process, BMC materials will be more widely used in the future.
